Matty Healy, the lead singer of 1975, brought raw meat on stage during the band’s show in New York. During a show at Madison Square Garden, the British singer pulled out a piece of red meat, which was a big deal.

Healy ate the meat without a shirt on and then got down on his knees and crawled across the stage. Fans of 1975 are used to seeing Healy do crazy things on stage, so this wasn’t a new show for them. Even Healy’s mother, the actress Denise Welch, tweeted that she had seen him acting strangely.

In response to a journalist who tweeted, “There is no way I could ever explain to my 18-year-old self that I just saw Matty Healy grope himself onstage and eat a raw steak before crawling into a TV,” she wrote, “I saw it, too,” with three crying-laughing emojis.
The concert was shown on Twitch as part of an Amazon Music UK event, so not only people in New York could watch it.

Being Funny in a Foreign Language, the band’s fifth studio album, came out last month, and they are now on tour. Since the tour started on November 3 in Connecticut, the Madison Square Garden show is only the third stop. The band’s tour of North America will end on Dec. 17 in Pittsburgh.
