Apple has now unveiled its 2020 refresh of the iPad Pro, and it is quite the upgrade. People who own previous versions of the iPad Pro were quite fond of it. Everyone enjoyed its gorgeous display, intuitive user interface and buttery smooth performance.
A Laptop Replacement
Essentially, the iPad Pro was incrementally closing the gap between a tablet and a laptop. It boasted a lot of the features and conveniences of a powerful, portable device that people usually attribute to laptops. Now, with the 2020 version of the iPad Pro, Apple has further blurred the lines between the two product lines.
It now features full trackpad support, so you can essentially use it like you would use a laptop. This isn’t a unique feature to the new iPad Pro alone. Apple has added it to all iPads through the iPadOS 13.4.
What is unique to this latest iPad Pro lineup, however, is the new Magic Keyboard. This one features a trackpad of its own, however, to take advantage of these new additions. It also features a USB-C passthrough, for charging, leaving the port on the iPad Pro itself open for other accessories, such as external displays. The Magic Keyboard’s keys are backlit and feature 1mm of travel.

More Convenient Usage
The cursor appears as a small circle and it highlights various UI elements that would be selected by a tap on the trackpad. Tasks like highlighting text or images should become much easier for the user with this added feature. The iPad Pro’s trackpad feature also allows for multi-touch gestures that let users access multi-tasking and other features quite easily. Such robust trackpad support will make using the iPad Pro much more convenient for productivity work.
The reason behind it being called the “Magic” Keyboard, however, may have something to do with the way it attaches to the iPad Pro. It has a stand-like attachment that essentially lets the iPad Pro “float” above the keyboard. This allows the user to adjust the tablet’s angle quite easily.
Powerful New Components
Outside of other such nifty features, including support for the new Apple Pencil, of course, there’s a lot to like here. The new A12Z Bionic chip at its is a powerful 8-core processor. It supposedly makes the new iPad Pro more powerful than most Windows laptops.
The camera setup on the iPad Pro now features a second Ultra Wide camera, giving it more capabilities as a professional video device. Also part of the new camera module is the LiDAR sensor. The depth-sensing capabilities of this new component make the iPad Pro’s Augmenting Reality quite powerful.
The iPad Pro 2020 has a release date of March 24, 2020. The 11-inch WiFi model starts at $799, while the WiFi+Cellular model starts at $949. The 12.9-inch WiFi model starts $999, while the WiFi+Cellular model starts $1149. The Magic Keyboard itself costs $299 for the 11-inch model and $349 for the 12.9-inch model.
