Mare of Easttown, a film released earlier this year, captivated audiences’ interest with its story of a seasoned officer who investigates a horrible murder that has rocked her little American town. However, another new drama series on Showtime, American Rust, has a concept that is strikingly similar to the one in American Rust.
Del Harris, the chief of police of a small Pennsylvania town in the Rust Belt, is played by Jeff Daniels. When the son of the woman he loves (Maura Tierney) is accused of murder, he swiftly finds himself in a precarious position in his pursuit of the truth.
Joel Keller of Decider awarded the series a “stream it” recommendation, noting that the series “is worth watching.” “Jeff Daniels’ deeply emotional performance, plus Maura Tierney’s equally fine turn are more than enough to make American Rust compelling.”

American Rust Season 2 Renewed?
We haven’t figured it out yet! At the time of publishing, Showtime had not announced whether or not American Rust will be canceled or renewed. However, because the first season of the show incorporates the majority of the novel on which it is based, it is now receiving bad ratings and reviews.
A second season isn’t out of the question, but there’s a significant probability that Season 1 will be the final chapter in Sheriff Harris’ saga.
