Luis Fonsi a Puerto Rican singer and composer. Luis Fonsi is known for such hit songs as “Aquí Estoy Yo,” “Échame la Culpa,” and “Despacito.” He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1978 as Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero. Jean and Tatiana are his two younger siblings, making him the eldest child of Delia and Alfonso.
Fonsi attended Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida, as a teenager, where he was a member of the Big Guys singing group. Fonsi went to Florida State University on a full scholarship in 1995. He sang in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and participated in the school choir when he was there.

Luis Fonsi Career
In 1998, Fonsi recorded his first album, “Comenzaré.” The album, which peaked at number 11 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, was a hit in Puerto Rico and throughout Latin America. It featured the singles “Si Tú Quisieras,” “Dime Como,” “Perdóname,” and “Me Iré.” Fonsi’s 2000 follow-up album, “Eterno,” was even more popular. He recorded a duet with Christina Aguilera for her album “Mi Reflejo” in Spanish later that year.
Fonsi released two albums in 2002: “Amor Secreto” and “Fight the Feeling,” the latter of which served as his English-language debut. After that came “Abrazar la vida,” which helped Fonsi enter new European markets and gave rise to the number-one hit song “¿Quién Te Dijo Eso?” With the release of his sixth album, “Paso a Paso,” in 2005, Fonsi’s reputation grew. “Nada Es Para Siempre” peaked at the top of the charts and received a Latin Grammy Award nomination.

In 2008, Fonsi’s seventh album, “Palabras del Silencio,” made its Billboard 200 debut at number 15. It went gold in Mexico and Argentina and platinum in the US and Spain. It also received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. “No Me Doy por Vencido,” one of its songs, became Fonsi’s first-ever number-one song on the US Billboard Hot 100. It became one of the artist’s greatest songs to date and peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks list.
“Aquí Estoy Yo,” another song from the album, won Song of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards. To promote his eighth album, “Tierra Firme,” Fonsi undertook a tour throughout Latin America in 2011. After three years, he went on the “Somos Uno” tour and published the album “8.”
