Lisa Bonet was already immersed in the entertainment business as a child, even before she decided to go to acting school after high school. As a young actor, she participated in numerous beauty pageants and had frequent cameo appearances on TV shows. In 1983, she landed one of her first significant TV roles in St. Elsewhere. After this one-time appearance in 1984, she landed the chance of a lifetime—a recurring part on The Cosby Show.
With the exception of the eighth and final season, Lisa Bonet portrayed Bill Cosby’s on-screen daughter for the whole run of the program. The Cosby Show defied ratings for five consecutive years as the top television program.
Throughout its tenure, the program also took home six Emmys. Still, not everything was always happy behind the scenes. According to a number of sources, Lisa Bonet and Bill Cosby did not get along, particularly as Bonet grew older.
