Maryland native Hinds shared a home with her mother, 13-year-old younger sister, and grandparents. She started pursuing photography at the age of 16, learning how to take and process images.
She attended Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and graduated with honors in 2023. Thomas claimed that his granddaughter’s interest in sports administration was ignited by her time spent playing softball and coaching the girls’ lacrosse team.
Ashlei Hinds Cause of Death
Ashlei Hinds, an 18-year-old LSU student, was shot and died in northwest Washington, D.C. while celebrating Christmas at home. Around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Hinds was shot and died inside a hotel room, according to the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. Police reported a day later that Jelani Cousin, 18, had been taken into custody and was facing second-degree murder charges.
Witnesses said that after Cousin arrived at the party, he attempted to have s*x with a drunken young woman and was told to leave. Cousin repeatedly uttered the words “I’ll blow this stop up” while brandishing a gun before firing two bullets through a locked door. Hinds was trying to get away when both gunshots struck her as she was gathering her items on the other side.
In the rear bedroom, Hinds slumped and died from her wounds. Although both bullets struck her in the left arm, one entered her lungs. Police claim that up to six people left the room before they arrived. They are asking anyone who knows anything to contact them.
