Richard Earl Thomas, born on June 13, 1951, is an American actor best known for playing John-Boy Walton in the TV series “The Waltons.” He won an Emmy Award for this role and got nominated for another Emmy and two Golden Globe Awards.
Later, he starred in a 1990 TV miniseries based on Stephen King’s book “It” and played Special Agent Frank Gaad in the show “The Americans.” Recently, he appeared on Netflix’s “Ozark” and is currently touring in the play “To Kill a Mockingbird” as Atticus Finch.
Richard was born in Manhattan to parents who were dancers with the New York City Ballet and owned the New York School of Ballet. He has a birthmark on his left cheek, which caused him to be turned down for a TV commercial when he was younger.
