After the cliffhanger ending of season 3, many people want to know about the new season of Barry. The show is about a hitman named Barry Berkman, played by Bill Hader, who is trying to balance his past as a criminal with his family life and acting career. Even though Barry seems to have control in season 1, his killing of Detective Janice Moss sets off a chain of events involving his former boss Fuches (Stephen Root) and his former acting teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler), that follow him through seasons 2 and 3. Season 4 of Barry will pick up where Season 3 left off.
In season 3, Barry’s life finally starts to fall apart. He loses his girlfriend Sally (Sarah Goldberg), Cousineau finds out that he killed Detective Moss, Fuches is after him, and Barry has violent visions because his mental health is worsening. After almost three years, season 3 of Barry came out in April 2022, with another tight season of eight episodes. Thankfully, season 4 is on the way.
Barry Season 4: Release Date Details
The fourth season of Barry will come out on April 16, 2023. In the US, the show will air again on HBO Max. In the UK, the show has been shown on Sky and NOW at the same time as the US release.

Plot Details Of Barry Season 4
Barry Season 4 will pick up where Season 3 ended. In the Season 3 finale, Gene tricked Barry into trying to kill Jim Moss (Robert Ray Wisdom), but it was all a big lie, and Barry was arrested at the end of the episode.
It would have been an excellent way to end the character’s story, but Hader wanted to keep going with the story, which would end the show.
“Well, the story is over now that you’re dead, and I thought there was more to it. “A guy can only get away with this for so long,” he told Vulture.
“I know that when I watch TV shows, I sometimes think, ‘They’re trying to keep the show going, but it’s getting silly.’ I think he would get caught because of this.
“He’s not Walter White or Jason Bourne. He is not very smart. He is a foolish person. And the idea that Gene Cousineau wanted justice for Janice and got it in the end, but he had to change himself to get it, made sense.
The third season was a lot darker than the first two. It was the first time Sally killed someone, and NoHo Hank had to turn a machine gun on his captors to get away and free Cristobal.
Hader also told The Wrap, “Well, there are some things I can’t say because they set up things for Season 4, but I can say where Sally and NoHo Hank end up this season and how Barry’s disease makes them murder people.”
“When thinking about Season 4, we thought, ‘Oh, that could be interesting if their characters were different.’

Barry Season 4: Cast Details
Bill Hader plays Barry Berkman/Barry Block, a former Marine from Cleveland who used to be a hitman and now wants to be an actor. He is the star of season 4 of Barry. Barry is going to jail this time.
HBO confirmed that Hader is likely to be joined by returning cast members:
- Stephen Root as Monroe Fuches, Barry’s family friend and hitman mentor
- Henry Winkler as Gene Cousineau, an acting coach
- Sarah Goldberg as Sally Reed, an acting student and Barry’s now ex-girlfriend
- Anthony Carrigan as NoHo Hank, a leader in the Chechen mafia
- Michael Irby as Cristobal Sifuentes, the leader of the Bolivian mafia
- Robert Wisdom as Jim Moss
- Fred Melamed as Tom Posorro
- Andrew Leeds as Leo
- Patrick Fischler as Lon Oneil
- Jessy Hodges as Lindsay
We must say we’re glad Cristobal is still alive because NoHo Hank saved him in the finale. We also expect James Hiroyuki Liaobar to play FBI Agent Albert Nguyen again. Nguyen was Barry’s friend in the military and was the one who let him go.
How Many Episodes Will There Be In Barry Season 4?
Hader is in charge of all eight of Season 4’s episodes. Hader won a Director’s Guild of America Award last month for the Season 3 episode “710N” he directed.
In an interview with Variety, Hader said he had always wanted to write and direct for Barry but first needed to learn the ropes. Hader said, “As the show has gone on, I’ve become much more sure of myself as a director and a writer.”
