Cardi B has a very important public service announcement for any of her fans who are thinking about getting buttocks surgery.
In a recent Instagram Live video, the rapper was honest about her decision to get rid of most of her buttocks injections and she warned her fans that the procedure can be dangerous.
“I had surgery in August, and 95% of my biopolymers were taken out… People reported that the 30-year-old said in the video, “If you don’t know what it is, it’s a— shots.”
In 2018, the rapper talked to GQ about the procedure and said she had silicone injected illegally into her buttocks in a New York City basement apartment for $800. She also said that the woman who did the procedure went to jail because one of her clients “died on her table.”
Cardi B told her fans in an Instagram Live video that is no longer available to watch to think twice before getting the procedure done.
“All I’m going to say is that if you’re young, like 19, 20, or 21, and sometimes you’re too skinny and you’re like, ‘OMG I don’t have enough fat to put in my a—,’ so you turn to a— shots, DON’T!” she said.
The procedure has become more and more popular over the years. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it “increases the size and shape of your butt” and is often called a Brazilian butt lift (BBL).
Dr. Josef Hadeed, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, California, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons say that the safest way to do a BBL is to inject fat from another part of the body into the buttocks, not silicone or another substance.
Cardi B said that the process of having her hair cut off was “really crazy.” Hadeed says this about what it might have involved: “Ultrasonic liposuction can sometimes get rid of it, depending on how bad it is and how much needs to be taken out. But in moderate to severe cases, it may be necessary to cut out and remove tissue from the bottom.”
The rapper then told her fans that they should learn all about BBLs before making any hasty decisions.
“If you want my advice about BBLs, you have to make sure your blood levels are good before you get your BBL done,” she said. “Don’t do it if a doctor tells you that your blood levels are too low or that you have diabetes or something else.”
Cardi B also explained why she was telling her story. She said, “A lot of people thought I was done with my body after I had my son Wave.”
The couple who are both 30 years old had their second child, Wave in September 2021.
What You Must Learn About BBL Surgery
Hadeed says that if you are thinking about a BBL the most important thing to know is that you should take the time to do research and even talk to more than one surgeon. The goal should be to find someone who has done the procedure before, makes you feel comfortable, is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (because of its safety standards), and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, he says.
Hadeed says that these kinds of surgeons will only do BBLs with fat transfer. He says that a BBL with silicone or another substance can cause “a very intense inflammatory reaction,” granulomas (hard knots under the skin) infections, dead skin tissue, and even death if the silicone is injected into a blood vessel.
Hadeed says that fat is less dangerous because it is a natural part of the body. Still, a BBL with fat transfer can still kill if the fat gets injected into a blood vessel.
Hadeed says that compared to other kinds of plastic surgery BBL has one of the “highest death rates.” But, he makes it clear, “That number might not be as accurate as it seems because many of the BBL-related deaths have happened in what is called “plastic surgery factories,” where quantity is often more important than quality. Most of the time, the doctors who work at these places are not trained in plastic surgery.”
He says that you shouldn’t choose plastic surgery based on how much it will cost. Instead, you should do research.
“You do get what you pay for, as the old saying goes. When people try to save money on plastic surgery, a lot of problems can happen “Hadeed stresses. “Choosing to have elective surgery is a very big decision that no one has to make, and price shouldn’t be the main factor because your health and your ability to make a living are on the line.”
