Violent Night is a 2022 American Christmas black comedy action film directed by Tommy Wirkola based on Pat Casey and Josh Miller’s original screenplay. David Harbour, John Leguizamo, Cam Gigandet, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, and Beverly D’Angelo star in the film.
Violent Night had its world premiere on October 7, 2022, at the New York Comic-Con, and is set to be released in the United States by Universal Pictures on December 2, 2022.
In the first trailer for “Violent Night,” a holiday thriller starring the “Stranger Things” star as Santa Claus, David Harbour establishes himself as a badass.
Harbour plays a grizzlier, more rueful version of Kris Kringle, who is anything but jolly in the trailer, directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola. On Christmas Eve, (Not-So) Saint Nick comes across a family being held hostage by a team of mercenaries and is forced to intervene.
Harbour is joined by Cam Gigandet, Beverly D’Angelo, and John Leguizamo in the cast. Pat Casey and Josh Miller wrote the script, who also wrote the first and second live-action “Sonic the Hedgehog” films.
An audience will be treated to an exclusive screening of “Violent Night” on October 7, nearly two months before the film’s premiere. Harbour first hinted at the project at CinemaCon in April, speaking to a packed house at Caesar’s Palace.
“Who doesn’t enjoy a good action movie?” According to Syfy, Harbour asked the convention crowd. “How about some Christmas films?” So, how about a film that is both a great action film and a great Christmas film? ‘Die Hard,’ they say. ***** ‘Die Hard.’ What if… wait a minute… wait a minute.
What if badass director Tommy Wirkola and the badass producers at 87North, the maniacs behind ‘Atomic Blonde,’ ‘John Wick,’ ‘Nobody,’ and ‘Hobbs [&] Shaw,’ were behind it all? And, wait a minute, what if I played fucking Santa Claus in it?”
