Yona of the Dawn (Japanese, Akatsuki no Yona) is a fantasy anime television series based on the same-named manga series. Mizuho Kusanagi wrote and drew the manga, which debuted over a decade ago on August 5, 2009, and continues to be published to this day.
Years after the story’s first publication, Studio Pierrot revealed their intention to adapt it into an anime television series, and Yona of the Dawn Season 1 premiered on October 7, 2014.
It was an instant success with both fans of the manga series and new viewers. Since then, supporters have been waiting to confirm a second season with bated breath. Here is what we currently know about Season 2’s chances.

Yona Of The Dawn Season 2 has yet to get an official renewal. However, it is expected to be disclosed shortly. If the green light is in 2022, the sequel might be released early to mid-2023.

Yona of The Dawn Season 2 Plot
The drama is set in a hypothetical country where Japanese, Chinese, and Korean civilizations coexist. In this scenario, the program chronicles the exploits of Yona, the Kingdom of Kouka’s solitary princess, and is a story of vengeance and redemption.
The episode begins with Yona enjoying a carefree and joyful life as a princess in the Hiryuu Castle, protected from the outside world by her father, the King of Kouka, and her childhood friend and bodyguard, Hak.
Yona’s world, however, is flipped upside down at her sixteenth birthday party when her childhood friend and love interest, Su-Won, pays her homage. Yona, overjoyed at Su-arrival, Won proceeds to her father’s quarters to inform him of her feelings for Su-Won.
When she enters the room, she is shocked to discover Su-Won assassinating her father to claim the kingdom. Su-Won seizes control in Kouka, but Hak intervenes to rescue Yona from certain death, and together they flee the castle for Hak’s hometown, the Village of Wind.

Yona encounters Hak’s grandpa, Son Mundok, in the Village of Wind, encouraging them to look for a priest called Ik-Su. When they locate the priest, he relates the narrative of Hiryuu, Kouka’s first king, and the Four Dragon Warriors, who once united the Kingdom of Kouka.
Inspired by the story, Yona and Hak go on an epic adventure to locate the Four Dragon Warriors’ descendants to endure Su-despotic Won’s rule and preserve the country from disaster.
