Nex Benedict was a 16-year-old non-binary student from Owasso, Oklahoma, who tragically passed away on February 8, 2024, after an altercation at Owasso High School on February 7.

Who Are Nex Benedict’s Parents?
Nex Benedict was born in 2008 in El Paso, Texas. Sue Benedict, Nex’s grandmother, and legal guardian, who later became their adoptive mother, mentioned that Nex’s biological father gave up all his parental rights early on and is currently incarcerated for abuse.
Since Nex was two months old, Sue has been raising them, eventually formalizing the adoption a few years before Nex’s death. Although Sue is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Nex does not hold affiliation with the tribe.

The Benedict family resided in Owasso, Oklahoma, a suburb near Tulsa, situated on the Cherokee Nation reservation. Nex was a student at Owasso High School, located within the reservation, which serves around 3,000 students across grades 9 to 12.
