While shooting a film, the romantic and family comedy You People, which is now on Netflix, actress Lauren London learned more about her Jewish roots.
In the movie You People, Lauren London’s character Amira’s parents are understandably worried about her wedding to her boyfriend Ezra (Jonah Hill). Eddie Murphy plays Amira’s dad Akbar, who isn’t sure if the dorky white Jewish guy Amira has her heart set on is good enough for his daughter.
In an interesting plot twist, Lauren London’s real parents fell in love in a way that was similar to how Ezra and Amira did. So, who are Lauren London’s parents? Are they still together?
Who Are Lauren London’s Parents?
Lauren London is Black and Jewish. Her mother was black, and her father was an Ashkenazi Jewish man who was white.
The star of “You People” told the PEOPLE Every Day podcast (via Yahoo Entertainment) that working on the movie helped her learn more about her own Jewish background.
Lauren London Said, “I just grew up with my mother in my household. I didn’t grow up with my dad living with us. My parents divorced when I was really young. I was three, so my experience is of my mother’s experience, because I just grew up with a single black mom.”
Lauren London reportedly said this about how the movie was made:
“What felt personal was shooting in L.A. And some of those areas that we shot in and some of the places that we shot in. I liked that they were Jewish ’cause it was also some stuff that I got to learn via being in the movie that I didn’t know.”
Lauren London’s parents’ names have never been revealed. It could be because Lauren doesn’t want that information to get out, especially if her parents don’t want to be famous like their famous daughter.

At Khloe Kardashian’s wedding, London was a bridesmaid, and she has made appearances in several Kardashian-related television programs.
Lil Wayne, a rapper, is the father of Lauren’s son. They met when she was 15 and were engaged for a short time.
In 2013, Lauren began dating Ermias Asghedom, also known as the rapper Nipsey Hussle. she is the mother of 13-year-old Kameron with Lil Wayne and 6-year-old Kross. Nipsey was shot and killed outside of his Los Angeles clothing store on March 31, 2019. This is very sad.
London says, “I’m a single mom, so I want to be very realistic with them,” “Life is tough. I don’t wanna cushion everything for them. I want them to be prepared for life. I think I’m a balance because sometimes I think I may be going too soft, but I have times where I’m like, ‘Hey, hey, hey, y’all, come on now. Let’s get this together.’ I think I’m an old-school mother.”
London says that, in the end, she thinks about all the good things in her life: My kids are healthy, they are happy, and I am healthy. I’m here. I have an opportunity to make it a good day. And so I would have to say that every day. My intention is to make the best out of what I have. I don’t wanna ask God for too much.”
