Three Things To Look Forward To As The La Liga Season Resumes

The La Liga season resumes on Friday, June 12 2020. La Liga’s season is resuming after a break of over three months. The league is set for a fantastic finish over the final 11 games. There are many great storylines for the league to wrap up as it heads into the final run of this season. But there are some storylines more fascinating than most. These are the storylines which will really draw people to watch these games on television. Hence, here are three things to look forward to when La Liga resumes

Storyline #1: Real Madrid Vs Fc Barcelona

Madrid Vs Barcelona is one of the biggest rivalries in world football. El Clasico regularly draws more fans than the rest of the world. While there are likely no more El Clasico matches this season, the two teams are still fighting for the league title. Barcelona has a slim lead of two points at the top. With 11 games to go in the season, things could either way. Barcelona has also been performing poorly through most games.

Madrid won their game against Barcelona in early March but conceded the lead soon after. Regardless, any slip up from Barcelona will be costly. Both teams are gunning for the title, and Lionel Messi will want to ensure that he can secure the title for the Catalonian club. Madrid will want to end Barcelona’s dominance in the league. It will be truly fascinating to watch this unfold.

Storyline #2: Real Sociedad Or Getafe

Two teams that have been the most surprising candidates this season. Getafe has been able to implement a version of Liverpool’s highly successful model. This has given them great results and they are tied with Sociedad for the 4th spot. Both are only a game behind 3rd place Sevilla.

Sociedad is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing team in the league. Players like Martin Odegaard and Mikal Oyarzabal run the tempo perfectly and it is a difficult matchup for everyone. Both could easily surpass Sevilla but fans should look to watch each of their games for thrilling encounters.

Storyline #3: Atletico Madrid And Europe?

Atletico Madrid pulled off a great upset by defeating and eliminating defending champions Liverpool from the Champions League. If the league gets a world-cup style format, Diego Simeone could easily lead them to the title. But in La Liga, Atletico is struggling to qualify for Europe. They are currently in 6th-place but only 1 point behind 4th place Sociedad.

While Atletico certainly has more talent than any team outside Madrid and Barcelona, the ride ahead is tough. Sociedad and Getafe especially were playing great football before the break and they will make it difficult for Atletico to be in the top 4.
