The Witcher 3: Players Who Own It On Other Platforms Can Claim GOG Version For Free

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt isn’t that expensive nowadays. The game is five years old at this point. However, it’s still one of the best games of the past decade. Now, CD Projekt Red has seemingly taken to giving it away for free. They’re running this promotion on GOG, which is their own digital storefront on PC.

Claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt For Free On GOG

It’s not quite as straightforward as that, though. You’d already need to own a version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on some platform, except for the Nintendo Switch release. If you do, it’s a fairly simple process to claim The Witcher: Wild Hunt on GOG. Simply download the latest version of GOG, create an account, and link whatever platform you own the game on to your GOG account.

For example, if you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS4, link your PlayStation Network account to your GOG account. Once you do that, the game should pop up in your library. Simply click on it, and you can claim the GOG version for free.

You May Get All The Witcher 3 DLC Depending On Which Version You Own

You get the exact version of the game you own on the other platform, too. So, if you happen to own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Game Of The Year Edition, that’s the version you’ll get on GOG. This means that you’ll get all the Witcher 3 DLC right off the bat.

However, if you have the base version on the other platform and you purchased the DLC separately, you’re out of luck. You may have to purchase the DLC once again on GOG. For players who own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Steam or Epic Games Store, this isn’t a huge deal.

However, for players who own the game on consoles, such as the Xbox One or PS4, this might be great. The console versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are great. That said, PC gaming offers some advantages that you can’t get on console.

The Witcher 3’s Mods Offer A Different Experience

One of these advantages, of course, is mods. The Witcher 3 mods are particularly robust, too. Some of them rework the game’s combat, inventory, even graphics. The game has a dedicated community of modders on platforms like Nexus Mods.

So, if you’ve already played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on a console, it might be fun to try out the PC version with some of these mods. You might want to hurry, too. This offer is only available until June 23, 2020.
