The Last Of Us Part II is less than a month away now. To say that the road leading up to this game has been bumpy is a gross understatement. The game had to deal with major story moments leaking onto the internet. Naughty Dog and Sony have tried hard to wipe these spoilers off the internet, sometimes in an unfairly aggressive way.
Naughty Dog Using New Twitter Tool To Control The Last Of Us Part II Spoilers
However, once something is on the internet, it’s out there forever. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing they can do to keep spoilers to a minimum, though. Naughty Dog may be experimenting with a new feature on Twitter that should help exercise some control on the spread of information.
This new Twitter tool lets users decide who can reply to their tweets. It’s still in the testing phase, but it seems like Naughty Dog’s Twitter is one of the accounts which can use it. With this tool, they can choose one of three options.
Twitter Tool Controls Who Can Reply To A Tweet
The first option is to allow anyone and everyone to reply to the tweet. This is more or less how Twitter works anyway. The second option is that only people who follow you can reply to your tweets. So, if Naughty Dog’s Twitter doesn’t follow someone, they can’t reply to any of their tweets.
The third one’s the nuclear option, but this might be the one Naughty Dog end up choosing when marketing The Last Of Us Part II. This one only allows the people you’ve @mentioned in your tweet to reply to it. So, if Naughty Dog posts a tweet without mentioning anyone, no one gets to reply to it.
The Last Of Us Part II Spoilers May Be Easier To Avoid On Twitter Now
Twitter replies and comment sections around the internet are the easiest places to get spoilt. They’re extremely difficult to regulate. Anyone who is seeking out spoilers for The Last Of Us Part II can still find them. However, anyone who wants to avoid them won’t get ambushed on Twitter at least.
The Last Of Us Part II comes out on June 19, 2020, for the PlayStation 4.
