Tavon Austin eagerly accepted a football scholarship from West Virginia University after graduating from high school. From 2009 until 2012, he was a football player for West Virginia University.
Tavon Austin was a running back at first. But in American football, he switched to wide receiver, where he still plays today, as his primary position. He did a great job, being named an All-American twice. He was also voted All-Purpose Performer of the Year for 2012 by the College Football Performance Awards Association.
