At this point, Blake Griffin is only interested in winning championships. To be fair, who could blame him?

Griffin has agreed to terms with the Boston Celtics on a one-year contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. The transaction is fully guaranteed.

Griffin, at 6-foot-9 and 250 pounds, is no longer the athletic marvel he once was. He used to be one of the league’s best dunkers. Despite the fact that he no longer has those hops, Woj expects him to be an important depth piece for the Celtics.

“After forward Danilo Gallinari tore his ACL last month while playing for Italy in FIBA World Cup qualifying, and after starting center Robert Williams III had knee surgery last week that will keep him out of basketball activities for the next eight to 12 weeks,” Wojnarowski wrote.

Griffin spent the last season and a half with the Brooklyn Nets after being mercifully bought out by the Detroit Pistons in March 2021.

Griffin averaged 6.4 points, 1.9 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game for the Nets last season.

He’s still a threat in the low post and has improved his long-ball game over the years. Despite shooting 26.2% from three last season for the Nets, he shot 38.3% from downtown in 26 games for the Nets in 2020-21.
