Sherrone Moore is an American college football coach and former player. He coaches the offensive line and serves as the offensive coordinator for the football team of Michigan. For four games in the 2023 season, he was Michigan’s acting head coach.
Moore was an offensive lineman for head coach Bob Stoops at Oklahoma from 2006 to 2007. He was Central Michigan’s and Louisville’s assistant in the past.

Sherrone Moore’s Career Journey
Sherrone Moore’s life had revolved around football before he was given the chance to serve as Michigan’s temporary head coach. Before graduating in 2004 from Derby High School in Derby, Kansas, he played high school football there.
Moore continued to Butler Community College, where he spent two seasons playing junior college football. He moved to the University of Oklahoma in 2006, where he started 14 games for the Sooners as an offensive guard. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2008.
In 2009, Sherrone Moore took a position as Steve Kragthorpe’s graduate assistant at Louisville, where he started coaching. 2012 saw him awarded a full-time assistantship, which he held until 2013 as the tight ends coach.
Under coach Dan Enos, Moore assumed a comparable position at Central Michigan in 2014. When Jon Bonamego took over as head coach in 2015, he kept him on board. In 2017, Moore received a promotion to recruiting coordinator and associate head coach.
On January 15, 2018, Sherrone Moore became the tight ends coach at Michigan. He advanced to the position of offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator after three years on the team. In 2021 and 2022, he guided the Michigan offensive line to victory as the nation’s finest offensive line, earning them the Joe Moore Award.

Before coach Jim Harbaugh’s suspension for recruiting infractions earlier in the season, Moore had his first opportunity to serve as interim head coach of the Michigan Wolverines football team against Bowling Green. Harbaugh took credit for his victory over Penn State last Saturday. However, Moore may add another triumph to his resume as a head coach today.
