Shedeur Sanders is an American football quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes. He previously played at Jackson State. Sanders is the son of Deion Sanders, the head coach of the University of Colorado and a cornerback in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
On February 7, 2002, Shedeur Sanders was born in Tyler, Texas. He was a four-star prospect and the state’s top dual-threat quarterback when he attended Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas. His father was the head coach at Jackson State University, where he committed to play collegiate football.

Shedeur Sanders Career
Sanders enrolled at Jackson State in January 2021, but due to COVID-19, the season was abbreviated and moved from its originally planned fall 2020 schedule. As a result, Sanders was unable to play for the squad in its Spring 2021 campaign. Sanders’s COVID-19 breakout caused a delay in his enrollment at Jackson State.
Before the 2021 fall season, Sanders was chosen as the starting quarterback for the Tigers. During the season, he completed throws for 3,231 yards, 30 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
As the most outstanding freshman in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, he won the Jerry Rice Award, making history as the first player from a historically black college or university (HBCU). Along with being selected second-team All-SWAC, he was also voted the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s (SWAC) Freshman of the Year.
In addition, he received the Jerry Rice Award, which goes to the SWAC’s best freshman. Sanders relocated to Colorado with his father, following in his footsteps. The Buffaloes immediately gave him the starting quarterback position after the game. In the Colorado Buffaloes’ 45-42 victory over the 17th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs, Sanders broke the school record by completing 38 of 47 pass attempts for 510 yards and four touchdowns.
