He worked with his brother Marlon on “The Wayans Bros.” TV show from 1995 to 1999 and in movies like “Don’t Be a Menace” (1996), “Scary Movie” (2000), “Scary Movie 2” (2001), “White Chicks” (2004), “Little Man” (2006), and “Dance Flick” (2009).

Shawn was the ninth of ten children, born in New York City to Elvira, a homemaker and social worker, and Howell, a supermarket manager. They were raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses. He grew up in Manhattan’s Chelsea area and graduated from Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities in 1989.

Shawn Wayans Career and Professional Life

Shawn Wayans started as DJ SW-1 on Fox’s “In Living Color,” created by his brother Keenen. He later became a main actor, working with his brothers Dwayne, Damon, Marlon, and sister Kim. Shawn and Marlon created and starred in “The Wayans Bros.” sitcom on The WB from 1995 to 1999. They also co-wrote and acted in the 1996 movie “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,” with Keenen acting too. Shawn guest-starred in “MacGyver” and “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper,” and was the voice of Toof in “Waynehead,” an animated show based on Damon’s childhood.

Shawn had a role in the 1999 movie “New Blood” and then starred with Marlon in the successful “Scary Movie” (1999-2000), directed by Keenen. He also co-wrote this movie, a comedy that makes fun of horror films like “Scream.” Shawn played Ray Wilkins and continued this role in the 2001 sequel “Scary Movie 2.” He was also involved in other “Scary Movie” sequels.
