Shannon Sharpe signed two contracts during his first ten years in the NFL as a Denver Bronco: the first was a three-year agreement worth $3.6 million in 1994, and the second was another three-year agreement worth $7.5 million in 1997. Shannon Sharpe’s Early Life 

Shannon Sharpe, the younger brother of NFL player Sterling Sharpe, was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1968. Pete and Mary, his parents, separated when he was just three months old. As a result, his grandma raised him, his brother, and his sister in Glennville, Georgia.

When Sharpe was a young ad*lt, he competed in track and field and played football and basketball at Savannah State University. He was named to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-SEC three times between 1987 and 1989. In the latter year, he was also named to the Kodak Division II All-American team.

Sharpe concluded his undergraduate career with 192 receptions for 3,744 yards and 40 touchdowns. As a senior, he caught 61 passes for 1,312 yards and 18 touchdowns. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice in 1989.

Shannon Sharpe NFL Career

When it came to the 1990 NFL Draft, Sharpe was not considered a highly regarded prospect despite his stellar performance in college football. Too big to be a tight end, too little to be a receiver, that was the consensus. Ultimately, the Denver Broncos selected Sharpe with their 192nd choice in the seventh round. He began his career as a receiver and had two mediocre seasons with just 29 receptions. He played a much better tight-end position after the Broncos moved him to that position.

In his third season as a tight end, he hauled in 53 receptions and won two straight championship rings at Super Bowl XXXII and Super Bowl XXXIII. After playing for the Broncos until 1999, he spent two years as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

Sharpe earned another championship ring in his rookie season with the Ravens, this time against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. After that, he went back to playing for the Broncos, where he stayed until 2003. After that, Sharpe retired to work as an NFL commentator for CBS.

Sharpe participated in eight Pro Bowls between 1992 and 2001, was named to the All-Pro Team four times during his NFL career, and recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in three different seasons. He tied a postseason record in a 1993 playoff game with 13 receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown. He played in 203 games before ending his career, and during that time he recorded NFL records for tight ends with 815 receptions for 10,060 yards and 62 touchdowns. Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten, two tight ends, later broke these marks.

Shannon Sharpe’s Personal Life

Sharpe had a romantic relationship with Nicole Murphy, a fashion model, in 2017. He became engaged to fitness teacher Katy Kellner later that year, but they broke up shortly after.

Before this, Sharpe was associated with Erika Evans, who filed violence charges against him in 2004, and Michele Bundy, who accused him of s*xual assault in 2010. Sharpe has three children from his relationships: daughters Kayla and Kaley and son Kiari.
