Was Samboy Lim Suffering From Any Illness?

Samboy Lim had some health problems from his time as a basketball player because of the injuries he got while playing. After he stopped playing, he stayed in shape by lifting weights, jogging, and playing basketball. He even started a basketball clinic for kids. In 2005, he began teaching basketball skills like handling the ball, passing, shooting, and more.

In 2010, he created the Samboy Lim Player Development Academy, and many kids signed up, especially for the summer camps. Sadly, in 2014, he had a heart attack after a basketball game and went into a coma. He woke up from the coma in 2015 and got medical care at home.

Samboy Lim Cause of Death

Samboy’s story inspired a law called the Samboy Lim Law, which makes it so high schools have to teach basic life support like CPR. Even after his medical emergency, he needed constant medical attention from a team of specialists, physical therapists, and nurses.

Samboy Lim Professional Career

In September 1986, some really good amateur basketball players, including former national team players, wanted to leave their current team (BAP) and become professional players. They wanted to join the San Miguel team, which later became Magnolia Cheese, in the PBA’s Third Conference. Samboy Lim and Elmer Reyes were allowed to leave their team after they came back from the Asian Games.

In 1986, Samboy joined the San Miguel Beermen, and he played for them throughout his 11-year career. He had his first professional game on October 7, 1986, and his team, Magnolia, won against Alaska after losing three games in a row.

Samboy had some injuries in the following two seasons (1987-88), but he still did amazing things on the basketball court. People called him “Skywalker” because he could jump really high, and he made unbelievable shots.

In 1989, he missed 11 games early in the season but only missed a total of 18 games that year. His team, San Miguel Beermen, won all three major championships that year, and Samboy was the third-highest scorer on the team.

In 1990, Samboy had a season without injuries and became the top scorer for San Miguel. He scored 42 points in the All-Star Game and was named Most Valuable Player. He was also chosen to play for the Philippines in the Asian Games and was part of the Asian Games Mythical Five.

Although his team didn’t do well in the Third Conference, Samboy was close to making it into the Mythical Five in the PBA. But he settled for the Mythical Ten.

In 1993, he received a sportsmanship award for his good behavior on the court. He was also chosen for the Mythical Second Team twice (1990 and 1993). People loved watching him play because of his amazing moves in the air. However, he had many injuries during his career, which lasted for only nine seasons. Even though he never won the MVP award, fans still considered him the “Real MVP.”

Samboy always wore jersey number 9 and knee-high socks as a tribute to his idol Julius “Dr. J” Erving, even though he was only five feet eleven inches tall.

In the world of celebrity news, people are sad and curious about why Sophie Anderson and Mikee Torres died. These two famous people, who come from different backgrounds, have caused a lot of talk and guesses about how they passed away. Now, let’s find out what really happened to them.
