Pokémon Sword and Shield’s highly anticipated expansion, Isle Of Armour, is now out. It is available to players who have purchased the expansion pass for their games. This expansion pass costs $30 and will give you access to future expansions as well.
Pokémon Sword And Shield’s Isle Of Armor Is The First Of Many Expansions
We don’t know how many expansions Pokémon Sword and Shield will have. That said, we do know of at least one more expansion that’s coming after the Isle Of Armor. It’s called The Crown Tundra, and it’s coming out sometime this fall. However, some players may have accidentally purchased the wrong expansions pass.
If you’re one of those players, fret not. Nintendo is issuing refunds to you so that you can then purchase the correct one. Much of this confusion arises from the fact that Pokémon Sword and Shield are two different games.
Pokémon Sword And Shield Have Separate Expansions Passes
This isn’t anything different for the Pokémon franchise, but it does get confusing when it comes to purchasing DLC. Pokémon Sword and Shield may take place in the same region, with many of the same mechanics, but they are fundamentally separate games.
Nintendo seems to be considerate of the fact that this may lead to some annoyance for their players, though. In the tweet announcing that the Isle Of Armor was officially out, they also let people know that they could contact their customer support to get things sorted out.
Pokémon Sword And Shield Players Can Contact Customer Support If They Purchase The Wrong Expansion
“When purchasing the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass or Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass, please ensure you select the one that corresponds with the version of the game you own. If you mistakenly purchased the incorrect pass, please contact customer support,” they wrote.
Nintendo is notoriously stingy when it comes to issuing refunds for digital purchases from their eShop. Their games also rarely go on sale. So, this safety for those Pokémon Sword and Shield players who do end up making a mistake is a welcome change of pace.
