OnePlus: Cheaper OnePlus Nord With Dual Front-Facing Cameras Rumoured To Be In The Works

OnePlus is going to jump back into mid-range price bracket with their upcoming phone. This is only if the recent rumours end up being true, of course. OnePlus themselves have hinted at the fact that they’re working on a cheaper phone, though.

New OnePlus Device Might Come With Two Front-Facing Cameras

This new device, currently known as the OnePlus Nord, will apparently come with dual front-facing cameras. The main sensor might be a 32-megapixel shooter, while the secondary camera could be an 8-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens.

The rest of the rumoured specs for this device aren’t quite flagship-level. However, OnePlus doesn’t have much of a choice if they want to keep the price down. The OnePlus Nord may come with a Snapdragon 765G processor, as well as a 90Hz AMOLED display.

OnePlus Hasn’t Released A Second-Tier Device Since The OnePlus X

A high refresh rate display on a budget phone could be enough of a draw to differentiate this device from its competition. If OnePlus does end up making this device, it would be their second attempt at a cheaper alternative to their more premium devices.

They tried this back in the day with the OnePlus X, but that device didn’t end up meeting people’s expectations. OnePlus definitely need to get back into the budget segment, too. They always positioned their smartphones as flagship-killers.

OnePlus’ Price Points Have Been Going Up Over The Years

However, ever since the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T and especially the OnePlus 7 lineup, their prices have continued to go up into proper flagship territory. In fact, there’s barely any price difference between the OnePlus 8 Pro and other flagships like the iPhone 11 and the Galaxy S20.

So, where could this OnePlus Nord land on the price range? According to a report from Android Central, it could come in under $400. They claim that OnePlus is going to announce this device in India on July 10, 2020.

It will also retail there at ₹24,990, which comes up to around $330 by their estimates. For a device that’s rumoured to pack these specs, this is a pretty good deal. The new iPhone SE is also at a similar price point, so the OnePlus Nord should make or some solid competition.
