Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd’s friendship is as endearing as their music.
The country singer-songwriters have made their names in Nashville, with Morris winning numerous awards, including a Grammy, and Hurd penning several hit songs, so it’s only natural that their love story began with music.
Morris and Hurd first met in 2013, when they co-wrote “Last Turn Home” for Tim McGraw, but their romance didn’t blossom until a few years later. They have since married, welcomed a son, and recorded their own duet.

Morris met Hurd during a songwriting session in 2013 after moving to Nashville, which resulted in “Last Turn Home,” which Tim McGraw later recorded.
“Our publishers’ job is to fill our calendars, so they just randomly put us together on a write one day,” Morris recalled of their first meeting.
“It was the beginning of a fantastic writing relationship,” she added. “It’s one of my favorite songs we’ve ever worked on. It’s crazy to think back on that time when we were both just songwriters, and that song has carried so much weight over the years. In a strange way, the meaning of the song means more to me and Ryan now — years later, it finally hit us what the song meant.”
December 2015:Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris begin dating.
Morris and Hurd met in 2013, but they didn’t start dating until December 2015.
“We’d only known each other for a few years, but there was always this writing chemistry in the room, and eventually, the timing was undeniable. We had such a strong foundation from writing so many songs over the years that we thought, ‘Why are we avoiding this?'” Morris spoke about the evolution of their relationship.

Morris was nominated for female video of the year and breakthrough video of the year at the CMT Music Awards in 2016, where the two made their red carpet debut as a couple.

A year after their first red carpet appearance together, the couple decided to take the next step in their relationship by getting engaged. Morris shared the exciting news on Instagram with a series of photos showing off her ring. Morris simply captioned the photos “Yes.” and included an engagement ring emoji.
24 March, 2018:Ryan Hurd marries Maren Morris
The couple married on March 24, 2018 at The Cordelle in Nashville. Morris later revealed that they wrote their vows in a bar before their wedding, and that she wanted them to be both sincere and lighthearted.
“I tried to do a mix of really sentimental and obviously a mix of promising him all these things that I will do for him throughout our life together,” she explained on The Bobby Bones Show. “So I said, ‘I’ll put up with you constantly watching sports as long as you put up with me constantly watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.'”
Later, the music duo revealed that their first dance song was “Has Anyone Ever Told You” by Ashley Monroe. Morris and Hurd explained that they chose the ballad to “try to get a little outside the box.”
2019
March 13: Maren Morris discusses her marriage with Ryan Hurd.
Morris opened up to Esquire about the difficulties she and Hurd faced as newlyweds after she hit the road with Niall Horn in the summer of 2018.
“It was probably the most difficult part of our relationship,” she reflected. “We went on honeymoon, and then I went on this massive tour opening for Niall Horan. It was the most international touring I’d ever done. And I was gone more on this tour than on any other.”
She went on to say that it was a “tough summer,” but that therapy helped them get through it. “We’ve grown so close because we’ve had to make some difficult decisions and have some difficult conversations about what the future holds and how we can improve it. I’ve always liked him, but now I like him in ways I never knew I could.”
October 22: Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have announced that they are expecting their first child.
Morris announced her pregnancy with her first child in October 2019, sharing a sweet maternity photoshoot of herself and Hurd.
“The irony is just too rich that the universe would give us a baby boy to even things out after a year of living in the GIRL headspace,” Morris said of her 2019 album. “I’ll see you in 2020, little one.”

2020
January 27: Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd go to Tennessee for their babymoon.
Morris chose to forego the Grammys in order to spend time with Hurd on a babymoon at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee. She captioned an Instagram photo of Hurd on the property, “A familiar view that never gets old.”
March 23: Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd’s first child has arrived.
Morris and Hurd welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Hayes Andrew Hurd, on March 23, 2020. “Love of our lives,” Morris captioned a photo gallery on Instagram. Hurd’s late brother, who died in a car accident when he was 16, was also honored by the baby’s middle name.
2021
February 12:Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have released their duet “Chasing After You.”
The couple released their first duet, “Chasing After You,” in 2021. “Maren and I met while writing songs, and we’ve sung on each other’s records and written together, but this is the first time we’ve gotten to do an actual duet,” Hurd said in a press release. “The timing feels really perfect, and it’s a full-circle moment to be able to make music together in this way.”
The song earned them a Grammy nomination for best country duo or group performance at the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards, in addition to performing it together at the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards.
March 23: Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd celebrate the first birthday of their son.
Morris told PeopleTV that the couple was planning a family-friendly celebration for their son’s first birthday.
“Obviously, we’ll have a very simple family-oriented party — we can’t do the full invitation thing,” she explained, citing COVID-19 health concerns.
She explained that the theme would be Peter Rabbit, “because that’s the book I’ve been reading to him since he was a newborn.”
29 August, 2022: Maren Morris says she misses Ryan Hurd while on tour amid Brittany Aldean drama
Morris has been on tour since March of this year. Hayes Andrew, her 2-year-old son, has been accompanying her for the past month. On August 29, 2022, she thanked her “biggest trooper” on Instagram for adjusting to life on the road and expressed her longing for her husband.
“I can’t wait to get back home,” she wrote. Morris posted this sweet message in the midst of some not-so-sweet drama with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Kerr Aldean, who is under fire for a transphobic comment she made on social media.
“The “Bones” singer tweeted in response to Aldean’s insensitive remark, “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human?” Insurrection Barbie, sell your clip-ins and go.” Hurd didn’t hold back in defending his wife and her remarks.
“Making quick points by targeting transgender children is not brave. And I admire Maren for standing up for them “He tweeted about it. “Maren has always had my support and affection. I am and will always be proud of her. I agree with everything she stands for.”
