The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has released the autopsy report for Madeline Kingsbury, a mother of two from Winona who was killed last summer. The report offers few clues as to what may have happened.

Kingsbury’s body was recovered on the 4200 block of 198th Street near Mabel following months of searching.
Adam Fravel, the 29-year-old father of her children and a resident of Winona, has been charged with first and second-degree murder. Since his arrest on June 9, he has been held at the Olmsted County Adult Center. You can take a look at this tweet:

Authorities published Kingsbury’s autopsy results months ago, and they revealed that she was the victim of homicidal violence. The report does not specify when or where her wounds occurred.
According to the criminal complaint, the medical examiner found that a towel had been tied around Kingsbury’s neck and head.
Fravel was the last person to see Kingsbury alive, and evidence, including similar tape and sheets found on her body and at the couple’s shared house, points to Fravel having driven to the Mabel area in Kingsbury’s vehicle.
Fravel, with whom Kingsbury allegedly had an abusive relationship, confessed to having a fixation on Gabby Petito, a lady whose boyfriend had murdered her in 2021. His bail has been set at $2 million, subject to certain conditions.
A conviction for first-degree murder would result in an automatic life sentence for Fravel. He faces up to 40 years in jail if found guilty of second-degree murder. On March 31st, 2023, it was reported that Kingsbury was missing.
Winona County Attorney Karin Sonneman stated at a June press conference that she ” had a bright future and Mr. Fravel took it from her. “By charging him today with her murder, we intend to hold him accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Both the bench and an outside legal expert have voiced concerns about how Sonneman’s office has handled key aspects of the case, including child custody and whether or not Fravel was charged too soon based on insufficient evidence.

What Happened to Madeline Kingsbury?
Maddi Kingsbury, a mother of two from Winona, Minnesota, was 26 when she vanished without a trace after paying a visit to her friend Lauren DeBois, whom she’d known since their college days at Winona State. Maddi was working at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester when Lauren was admitted to the hospital.
Maddi told her friend DeBois in the hospital that “everything is bad with Adam at the house,” referring to Maddi’s on-again, off-again partner and the father of her two children, Adam Fravel. Maddi stated Fravel had been “beating the hell out of her for years” and she asked Lauren for help on how to break out of the abusive relationship.
Maddi continued with a mysterious statement: “If anything happens to me, know that Adam did it.” I’d never abandon my children.
According to a plethora of search warrant affidavits revealed in recent days, the exchange is only one piece of evidence that led Winona police to suspect Fravel’s participation in Maddi’s abduction in the early days of the inquiry.
Maddi’s remains were discovered on a remote property outside Mabel, Minnesota on June 7, 68 days after she was last seen—by Fravel and his parents. In connection with Kingsbury’s death, Fravel has been charged with second-degree deliberate homicide.
