Lyn Davis Lear was born on May 14, 1947, which makes her 76 years old. She’s a Taurus and is American. She follows the Christian faith and has Caucasian ethnicity. She’s about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs around 141 lbs. Lyn went to El Camino High School and earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.

Who is Norman Lear?

Norman Milton Lear (July 27, 1922 – December 5, 2023) was an American writer and producer who created more than 100 TV shows. He made several popular sitcoms in the 1970s, like “All in the Family,” “Maude,” “Sanford and Son,” “One Day at a Time,” “The Jeffersons,” and “Good Times.” His shows talked about important topics like politics and society.

Lear won many awards, including six Primetime Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and he got the National Medal of Arts in 1999. In 2017, he got the Kennedy Center Honors, and in 2021, he got the Golden Globe Carol Burnett Award. He’s also in the Television Academy Hall of Fame.

Lear was known for being involved in politics. In 1980, he started a group called “People for the American Way” to oppose the Christian right’s influence in politics. In the early 2000s, he traveled with a copy of the Declaration of Independence to promote it.

When Did Lyn Lear’s Marriage to Norman Lear?

Norman and Lyn were married for more than 30 years before Norman passed away on December 5, 2023. Lyn was Norman’s third wife. Before Lyn, he was married to Charlotte Rosen from 1943 to 1956 and then to Frances Lear from 1956 to 1985.

Lyn and Norman first met in 1984 at a dinner party hosted by him and his second wife, Frances. Lyn was actually on a blind date with one of Norman’s friends that evening. Later, Lyn, who was working on her PhD at the time, asked Norman for help with her thesis.

Norman and Lyn got married in 1987. The next year, they had their first child, a son named Benjamin Davis Lear. In 1994, they had twin daughters, Madelaine Rose and Brianna Elizabeth Lear. Altogether, they had 3 children.

Norman also had three children from his previous marriages. He had one child with his first wife, Ellen Lear, born in 1947, and two daughters with Frances: Kate Lear and Maggie Lear, born in 1957 and 1959, respectively.

Norman Lear Cause of Death

On December 6, Norman Lear, a famous producer and writer known for his groundbreaking comedies like “All in the Family” and “Maude,” which tackled subjects like race, abortion, and other social issues not often discussed on American TV, passed away at the age of 101.

His family confirmed his passing and shared that he died naturally at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones, as they reminisced and sang together until the end.

Norman Lear Net Worth

Norman Lear, a famous comedy writer, was incredibly wealthy due to his successful career. He started after serving in the U.S. Air Force in WWII and teamed up with his cousin’s husband, Ed Simmons. They hit it big by writing for Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, earning a substantial $52,000 each for three comedy specials, which is equivalent to $500,000 today.

Norman’s career soared as he wrote for movies, and in the late 1960s, he pitched the groundbreaking show “All in the Family,” which became a huge success. This show was unique because it was the first sitcom filmed in front of a live audience and tackled serious societal issues like homophobia, racism, and more. It even spawned six spin-off series.

Norman also achieved success with “Sanford and Son” and made money by buying and selling a film company, Avco Embassy Pictures, for a significant amount. He earned around $600 million after adjusting for inflation.

Despite his wealth, he faced a costly divorce, losing $112 million to his ex-wife, Frances Lear. However, Frances used the money to start a feminist magazine called Lears for women over 40.
