Luis Vasquez Career
American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer Luis Vasquez was a gifted individual. When he started The Soft Moon in 2009, he was the only official member, lead vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
Vasquez was born in Los Angeles, California, to a mother who immigrated from Cuba and a father who was not there. He showed an early aptitude for music, especially on the guitar. Vasquez worked many odd jobs as a teenager, played in several punk-rock bands, and finally moved to Oakland, California.
Not long after the project started in 2009, Brooklyn-based label Captured Tracks approached Vasquez about a record deal. The next year saw the 7-inch vinyl releases of his debut single, “Breathe The Fire,” and “Parallels” under the Captured Tracks label.
He released the album of the same name, The Soft Moon, later that year. Vasquez is no longer with us, but his legacy and memories will last a lifetime.
