Larry Bird, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, was married to two different women and is therefore not gay. He played for the Boston Celtics from 1979 to 1992, during which time he won three NBA titles, three MVP awards, and two Finals MVP honors.
He is largely considered to be one of the best shooters and most effective late-game players ever. What about his private life, though? Some have speculated that Larry Bird is gay. Here, we’ll dispel some of the rumors and look into the real story behind Larry Bird’s romantic life.
Is Larry Bird Gay?
It’s a myth that Larry Bird is gay. No one had ever seen Bird with a boyfriend before. Currently, Larry Bird is married to Dinah Mattingly. The couple has been together since they started dating in 1989. Before, in 1975 and 1976, Larry Bird was married to Janet Condra. Due to the similarity in their middle names, many assumed that Larry and Sue were also basketball players. Moreover, several high-profile figures have recently come out; yet, contrary to popular belief, Larry Bird has not done so.

The Naismith Collegiate Player of the Year Award was only one of several trophies and honors he won. With the sixth overall choice in the 1978 NBA Draft, Bird was taken by the Boston Celtics. The Celtics improved their win total by 32 games after Bird’s arrival. For his outstanding performance, he was named Rookie of the Year and to the All-Star Team. He remained a member of the Celtics organization until his retirement from the NBA in 1992.
How Many Times Larry Bird Has Been Married?
Larry is a divorcee with one previous spouse. Who was Larry Bird’s first teammate in the NBA? He married his high school girlfriend, Janet Condra, in 1975, while he was just starting out as a basketball player at Indiana State. They were too young to have the kind of successful marriage that is required. For this reason, the marriage did not last, and in 1976 they officially separated. It’s interesting because Larry and Janet got back together for a while and had a kid together in 1977. Corrie Bird is the basketball player’s one and only biological child.
