Kevin McAlpine was a Scottish golfer who was born into a family with a strong sports background. Hamish, his father, was a well-known Dundee United football player. But Kevin took a different route in sports, focusing on golf.
He was successful in his amateur career, having taken home the Scottish Amateur championship. His abilities and performance on the golf course won him a scholarship to Colorado State University, where he went on to have a successful career as a collegiate player.
Regretfully, before he turned professional, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which put an end to his journey. Due to this injury, he was unable to advance quickly enough to get pro until 2010.
