Judd Nelson’s Early Life
Judd Asher Nelson was born in 1959 in Portland, Maine to a Jewish family. Eve and Julie are his sisters. His father, Leonard, was a corporate attorney and the first Jewish president of the Portland Symphony Orchestra; his mother, Merle, was a court mediator and a former member of the Maine House of Representatives.
Nelson went to Concord, New Hampshire’s St. Paul’s School, and Portland’s Waynflete School as a child. Afterward, he enrolled at Pennsylvania’s Haverford College but left after his sophomore year. After that, he relocated to Manhattan and studied acting with Stella Adler, the renowned acting coach.
