Jamie Dimon is an American billionaire investment banker and CEO. Dimon is one of the rare bank CEOs who has not founded the firm to become a millionaire. He is one of the few persons in history to become a billionaire without ever working at the company.
Dimon started his journey with a strong background in education. He studied at Harvard University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology. He continued his education at the Harvard Business School after graduating, earning an MBA with honors.

Judith Kent is the wife of Jamie Dimon. In 1983, the couple was married following graduation. Their three daughters, Kara Leigh, Laura, and Julia, are together.
After receiving a throat cancer diagnosis in 2014, Dimon had eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. He later had emergency heart surgery in 2020 to fix an aortic tear. Because of the COVID outbreak, he returned to work remotely after recovering.

Jamie Dimon Early Life
James Dimon was born in 1956 in New York City, New York to Greek immigrants Themis and Theodore. He has a fraternal twin brother named Ted and an elder brother named Peter. Dimon’s grandpa and father were Shearson stockbrokers. Dimon attended the all-boys Browning School when he was younger.
He continued his education at Tufts University, where he earned a summa cum laude degree while studying psychology and economics. After graduating, Dimon spent a few years in management consulting before enrolling at Harvard Business School.
He worked at Goldman Sachs during the summer. In 1982, Dimon received his MBA degree. Later, on the banker Sandy Weill’s recommendation, he declined offers to work as Weill’s assistant at American Express. Dimon’s father held an executive vice president position, at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Lehman Brothers.
In 1985, Dimon left American Express when Weill did. Together, the two moved on to acquire Commercial Credit, a consumer lending company. As chief financial officer of Commercial Credit, Dimon oversaw the company’s turnaround. Then, in 1998, Dimon and Weill succeeded in creating the financial services juggernaut Citigroup through a string of mergers and acquisitions. Weill requested Dimon to leave Citigroup shortly after, and he did.

Jamie Dimon Awards
Among his many honors, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley gave Dimon the American Academy of Achievement’s Golden Plate Award in 2006. Dimon received the 2010 International Executive of the Year award from the Executives’ Club of Chicago.
The Americas Society Gold Medal, the Intrepid Salute Award, and the National Association of Corporate Directors Directorship 100 were additional accolades received. Furthermore, in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011, Time magazine listed Dimon among the 100 most influential individuals in the world.
