James Kottak’s Legacy

In the 1980s, Kottak gained experience in the rock and roll industry by performing with numerous hard rock bands. He performed on the first two albums released by the Germany-based band Kingdom Come, of which he was a founding member.

In 1988, the band joined the Monsters of Rock tour after their debut album achieved platinum status. But in 1989, Lenny Wolf, a founding member, disbanded Kingdom Come and reorganized it with fresh faces. In 2018, Kottak came back to the band.

Kottak proceeded to perform with several hard rock bands, such as Wild Horses, Warrant, and The Cult. He became a member of the renowned German rock group Scorpions in 1996; they have sold over 100 million records globally. His tenure as the band’s longest-serving drummer spanned 20 years, during which time his drunkenness and off-stage conduct led to his firing in 2016.
