James Carville is a democratic political consultant who has been involved with multiple presidential campaigns, most notably Bill Clinton’s 1992 run. Mary Matalin, who has been in multiple administrations and is now a well-known Republican political consultant, writer, and media figure, is his wife.
After 28 years of marriage and the birth of two kids, the couple’s political ideologies couldn’t be more opposed. Talk shows, podcasts, and films frequently depict them as a political power couple.
Who is James Carville’s Wife?
Carville is married to Mary Matalin, a political consultant who supported Republican George H. W. Bush during his 1992 reelection campaign. Mary Matalin had aspirations of a career in modeling but ultimately decided to earn a degree from Western Illinois University instead.
After a year, she decided she didn’t want to continue her legal education at Hofstra University and dropped out. She started working for the GOP in the early 1980s as a campaign strategist and stayed for twenty years at the Republican National Committee.
On top of that, she worked as his reelection campaign’s deputy campaign manager. Not only does she anchor “Both Sides Now with Huffington and Matalin” on the radio every week, but she has also hosted “Crossfire” on CNN and other political shows.
How Did Mary Matalin and James Carville Meet and Fall in Love?
They first crossed paths in 1992, when Matalin was serving as deputy director for the reelection campaign of President George H.W. Bush, and Carville was a crucial strategist for Clinton, Bush’s opponent.
As a political science professor at Tulane University in New Orleans and a consultant on foreign political campaigns for clients such as the Labour Party in England and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Carville has maintained his friendship and support for Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Former Republican strategist Matalin switched to Libertarian status not long ago. She worked for Reagan, Bush, and Cheney, among others, and spent a lot of time with the Republican National Committee.
In addition to their many best-selling books, Carville and Matalin are regular TV guests who discuss and debate hot-button topics like healthcare, global warming, and the economy. At the National Business Aviation Association’s yearly conferences, they have delivered speeches that are just as fervently political as they are about business aviation.
We spoke with Matalin and Carville separately about their private aviation experiences soon after the 2016 Republican and Democratic conventions. Following that, we shifted gears to discuss other issues that are occupying many of us in the run-up to the election on November 8.
They were married in New Orleans in 1993 and later relocated with their daughters, Emma and Matty. They fell in love with the music, culture, and cuisine of New Orleans, so they decided to make it their home. In addition, they wished to shield their children from the glare of the nation’s capital while they were growing up.
