Jackson Browne Career
Brown joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band shortly after graduating from high school, but he departed after a few months to relocate to New York. Shortly before turning eighteen, he started writing for Nina Music, the publishing house of Electra Records.
He would play as a backup musician for musicians like Tim Buckley and Nico of the Velvet Underground and write about numerous musical events that took place in New York City. In 1968, he went back to Los Angeles and started a folk band. Before releasing two versions of several of his early songs years later, he had previously published versions by Nico and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Brown joined Asylum Records, his manager David Geffen’s record label, in 1971. Jackson Browne was on record, which he released in 1972. Numerous tunes from the album received a lot of radio play, and the album was a big hit. To promote the album, he went on tour with Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt.
His next album, “For Everyman,” came out in 1972. His third album, “Late for the Sky,” came out in 1974. With a peak position of number 14 on the Billboard album list, this was his most successful album to date.

There are six Grammy Award nominations for Brown’s music. He received induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. In recognition of his outstanding career, Occidental College in Los Angeles awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Music in 2004.
Browne proceeded to release popular albums on a steady basis during the 1980s and into the 1990s.
