Dawn Staley is an American professional basketball player and coach. In May 1970, Dawn Staley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a senior at Murrel Dobbins Tech High School, Dawn won the title of national high school player of the year.
She played for the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she captained her team to three Final Four appearances and a National Championship Game in four NCAA Tournaments. Staley received awards for both National Player of the Year and ACC Female Athlete of the Year.

Dawn Staley Career
From 1999 until 2005, she was a member of the Sting. She was then traded to the Houston Comets, where she played her final two seasons there in 2005 and 2006. From 2001 to 2006, Staley was a six-time WNBA All-Star. She finished second in the Wooden Cup Award competition and received the Woman One Award in 2005.
