On February 24, 1989, Daniel Kaluuya was born in London, England. He has an elder sister as a sibling, and both of his parents, Damalie and Stephen, are from Uganda.
After spending the first two years of his life in hostels, Daniel’s mother reared him on a council estate in London. Due to visa restrictions, his father, who lived in Uganda, rarely saw the family. Kaluuya received Rising Star prizes from the Black Film Critics Circle (2017) and the BAFTA Awards (2018) in addition to winning prizes from the African-American Film Critics Association for both of his projects. For “Get Out,” he won Black Reel Awards for Outstanding Actor, Motion Picture, and Outstanding Breakthrough Performance, Male. The movie also won him a Next Generation MTV Movie + TV Award and a Golden Schmoes Award for Breakthrough Performance of the Year.
