Hocus Pocus 2 has completed filming, so the (hopefully not too long!) wait for the first trailer for Hocus Pocus 2.
The Sanderson Sisters return to wreak havoc in Salem, Massachusetts in the sequel, which comes nearly thirty years after the original film. While a specific release date has yet to be confirmed, we’ve heard rumours that it will be available on Disney’s streaming service on Halloween.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are reprising their roles from the original Hocus Pocus film. While we wait for the trailer, we’ve been given a first look at the returning sisters as well as a brief glimpse of them in action.
The sequel was supposed to be directed by Adam Shankman, but due to scheduling issues (due to Shankman’s work on the Disenchanted sequel), directing duties were passed to Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 21 Dresses). Jen D’Angelo wrote the script, and Shankman will continue to serve as an executive producer.
Filming wrapped in late January 2022, so everything appears to be on track for the sequel to cast its spell on us later this year, as planned by Disney.
We can’t wait to see what the Sanderson Sisters have in store for us in Hocus Pocus 2, so here’s everything you need to know about the sequel.

Hocus Pocus 2 Release Date Information
Hocus Pocus release date Fall for Halloween 2022, which means 31 Oct 2022 … we believe.
After Midler tweeted: “Ladies! 300 years… But we’ve returned! #HocusPocus2 is set to be released in the fall of 2022.” Shankman has since narrowed the release date, writing on Instagram that Hocus Pocus 2 will be “coming to you #halloween #2022.” It’s unclear whether this refers to October 31 (a fitting date), or that spooky weekend.

What will the plot of Hocus Pocus 2 be about?
Along with the official announcement in May 2021, we received our first plot details for the sequel.
“Three young women inadvertently bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world,” it says.
This sounds a lot like the book sequel that came out in July 2018 and was about Max and Allison’s daughter Poppy, her friend Travis, and a girl named Isabella who Poppy has a crush on.
Poppy sneaks into the Sanderson house during a blood moon to impress Isabella and accidentally brings the sisters back to life. It’s unclear whether this is what will happen in the movie sequel, so it could end up being non-canon.
Hocus Pocus 2 Cast Details:
Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen are Doug Jones, the original “Hocus Pocus” actor, will also return for the sequel.
Disney first announced a sequel to “Hocus Pocus” in 2019, but Midler, Parker, and Najimy were not formally announced to reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters until May of this year.
