Google pays people who find problems in its stuff. They give money to say thanks for making their things safer. How much money a researcher makes depends on how bad the bug is that they find and how good their report is.

In 2023, Google paid out less than the highest ever, $12 million, given for finding bugs in 2022. But it’s still the second-biggest amount ever. Since 2010, when the program started, researchers got $59 million altogether. Google gave $3.4 million to people who found problems in Android. They also raised the most money they’ll give to $15,000 to encourage more people to report issues.

People won $70,000 for finding more than 20 big problems.
Last year, at the hardwear.io security conferences, researchers found more than 50 problems with Nest, Fitbit, and Wearables. They got paid $116,000 for finding these issues.
