For those who don’t know, Good Girls is a crime-comedy show on NBC that stars Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman as a group. There was a season 1 in February 2018. Since then, Netflix has been carrying the show all over the world, and Netflix in the US gets new seasons a year after they air. Season 4 didn’t show up on Netflix in the United States until mid-March 2022, which is a long time. The show is shown on Netflix all over the world as a Netflix Original. Not the first show from NBC to get this treatment. The Good Place was a Netflix Original show outside of the US, as well.
Good Girls does bring in a lot of money for Netflix. When it was added to Netflix outside of the US, it was in the top 10 for 4 weeks. It also made it to the top 10 after it was added to Netflix in the US. Between March 6th and March 13th, 24,500,000 hours were watched. If you watch Netflix, you might have seen this show even if it wasn’t one of the network’s most popular shows. It was expected that many shows on NBC would be canceled in the 2020-21 season. One of the shows mentioned was Good Girls, which was one of them. However, in June 2021, it was said that the show would not be coming back.

Why did it not go ahead? Can Netflix save it? Netflix should bring back Good Girls. Let’s take a look at it.
Why didn’t Good Girls get a fifth season?
Although the show is marketed internationally as a Netflix Original Series, it was produced by NBC and was discontinued in the summer of 2021, while Season 4 was still airing on the network. How did NBC come to the decision to terminate the show? There appear to be a number of elements at work, which we will discuss, but poor ratings undoubtedly play a significant role.
The show is thought to be a success for Netflix, with each season ranking in the top ten of the streaming service’s global top ten lists following its release. However, it fell short of NBC’s success. NBC, for example, released 19 scripted shows during the 2020-2021 television season. It came in dead last in both total viewers and the critical 18 to 49 age segment for advertisers.
Despite this, the program’s global success on Netflix and cult following (which helped it become NBC’s second largest show on digital platforms) led to speculation that it might receive a Season 5 that would conclude the plot. NBC, on the other hand, eventually decided against a fifth season, despite the three leads agreeing to take pay concessions for the last season.
Numerous explanations have been advanced for this, ranging from producers’ inability to financially justify the last season to creative disagreements to the supposed rivalry between Hendricks and Rio star Manny Montana, who have both revealed their chilly working relationship on set.
The campaign by fans to save the fifth season of Good Girls:
Despite all of this, supporters continue to rely on Netflix to save the show. Fans on social media continue to use the hashtag “#SaveGoodGirls” months later. Similarly, active petitions on sites such as Change.org gained some traction this summer. While the book appears to be closed, it can’t hurt to voice your views online, even if the show’s return appears improbable.

The Good Girls Season 4: Ending Explained
Season 4 finished with rumors of a fifth season, therefore the season finale left some narrative lines unanswered. By season 4, Beth Boland (Hendricks) is on the city council. When Dean (Matthew Lillard) shows up at Beth’s door and kills her, her family is ready to leave for Nevada. But before they can go, Mick (Carlos Aviles) shows up and shoots her.
After all, Beth, Dean, Ruby, Stan, and Annie did migrate to Nevada. As their new lives get more challenging, Beth urges her pals to commit another robbery, during which she is shot again. Beth wakes up in Michigan, Nevada a dream. Her gunshot wound isn’t fatal, and the whole thing was staged. Mick left his gun behind, the same rifle used to kill Lucy (Charlyne Yi) in season 3. Beth discovers her prints are on the gun, potentially landing her in jail. Ruby advises they all move to Nevada and leave their criminal pasts behind, but Beth refuses, claiming she doesn’t want to. But Annie understands that Beth may be in severe trouble, so she gives herself in, stepping in for Beth.
Meanwhile, Ruby and Stan must decide whether or not to move to Nevada. Stan essentially tells her to either come with us or stay with Beth and Annie. Ruby is seen packing in her farewell scene. Is she going? Was she unpacking? No one knows.
After three seasons of flirting with and working for a money launderer, Beth and Rio sit on a park bench, but the tables have turned. She’s lived her life as a small-time crook, doing what he requested since he always had the upper hand. “You work for me now,” she finally says, to which he replies, “Yes, boss.” Now that Beth is on the city council, she has more authority than ever and can finally be a big-time crook.
