Model Gigi Hadid, apart from being a phenomenal model is a fearless woman who does not refrain to speak about political issues openly. She keeps her social media updated and voices out her political opinions.
For the cover shoot of Vogue Arabia, Gigi donned a ‘Hijab.’ The model has Palestinian roots. She was brutally slammed and trolled by internet trolls. She received a major backlash for “cultural inappropriation” and for using a religious clothing as a “fashion statement.”
But Gigi Hadid decided to show these trolls their place instead of keeping shut.
During a chat at the Reebok’s Be More Human event, Gigi said:
“When I shot the cover of Vogue Arabia, [critics claimed] I wasn’t Arab enough to be representing those girls. I’m half Palestinian. I am as much Palestinian as I am Dutch.”
“Just because I have blonde hair… I still carry the value of my ancestors.”
“I’m not Palestinian enough to be on the cover of Vogue Arabia….[expletive] you if you think that.”
Her speech was straightforward and to the point.
