Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends Is A Multiplayer Mode, Coming Via A Free Update

Sucker Punch Productions has delivered, well, a sucker punch and announced Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends, a new multiplayer mode. This isn’t a separate release or any sort of paid add-on. This is a brand new game mode that’s separate from the singleplayer story.

Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends Adds Multiplayer For Free

Players who already the game will be able to jump into Legends via a free update. This update is coming in Fall 2020. Sucker Punch Productions Senior Game Designer Darren Bridges explained what this mode is all about in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

“It’s a separate mode that doesn’t follow Jin or the companions from his journey,” reads the post. “Instead focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima.” The trailer for this game mode also differentiates itself from the feel of the game’s singleplayer mode.

Legends Feels Completely Different From The Singleplayer Story

“Legends is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action,” the post continues. Players can take their pick of four classes of warriors. They are the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin.

The post doesn’t reveal what the differences are between these classes. However, it does mention that we’ll find out in the future.

Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends Doesn’t Have Microtransactions

It’s not unusual for games to have both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Ghost Of Tsushima already seems like it was well worth the price. So, getting a proper multiplayer mode on top of that, for free, seems like an amazing value prospect.

What’s even more surprising about Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends, is that it won’t have any microtransactions. Sucker Punch Productions confirmed this in a statement to IGN. “There are no microtransactions in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and we have absolutely no plans to add them. All of the content is unlocked through play,” it reads.
