FIFA: Premier League Will Use Crowd Sounds From FIFA When Matches Resume

The FIFA series may just be simulations of the beautiful game, but they’ll soon be invading the real-life sport, too. The Verge is reporting that Sky Sports is teaming up with EA Sports to add crowd sounds to their live broadcasts of the Premier League.

Sky Sports Using FIFA Crowd Noises During Premier League Broadcasts

We haven’t seen any Premier League fixtures go ahead since the middle of March due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, that’s about to change from June 17, 2020. Aston Villa vs Sheffield United is going to be our first match back.

The one wrinkle about this whole experience is that the stadiums are going to be empty. The German Bundesliga has returned under similar circumstances already. The noise of the crowd cheering on their teams is a huge part of a football match.

So, Sky Sports is turning to the FIFA series to fill in for the absence of the real deal. The FIFA games already have a realistic recreation of a packed stadium within their simulated matches. So, users who watch the Premier League on Sky Sports will have the option to turn these on when they watch the matches.

FIFA Has Realistic, Accurate Crowd Sounds

We get this report from The Verge, and any football fan will be glad to have this at their disposal. Each team will have their own custom chants, along with the usual cheers, roars and boos. Using sounds from FIFA isn’t a perfect replacement, of course, but it’s better than nothing. It’s a creative solution to help rectify an unfortunate situation.

Sky Sports Will Also Add A Video Conference Feature

Sky Sports is also going to allow viewers to watch certain matches in a video conference call to further improve the experience. “With live sport on hold for over two months, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how we broadcast in new ways to bring fans together, even if they can’t meet up to watch the match,” said Rob Webster, Sky Sports’ managing director.

FIFA 20 is available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
