Reports say that the creators were also talking about cutting out her scenes and giving the role of Queen Mera to someone else. Fans also petitioned to take Amber out of the Aquaman 2 movie. Many names came up on the Internet.
Despite all the fan campaigns, there was always one name in the running to play Queen Mera. There were rumors for a long time that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke would join Jason Momoa in the DC movie Aquaman. In the DC Movie Universe, fans hoped that Emilia’s character Daenerys Targaryen and Jason Momoa’s character Khal Drogo would meet again.
Even though that didn’t happen, some people thought that Amber Heard’s screen time was from the upcoming Aquaman movie. Many fan artists had Emilia Clarke standing in for Amber; some were pretty accurate and looked like the movie’s poster. Fans have wanted Emilia Clarke to play Mera for a long time, so digital artist Deigo De Sousa has released a jaw-dropping new piece of concept art showing Clarke taking over the role from Amber Heard.
Clarke looks as unique in the art as Mera, wearing the character’s signature red hair and the iconic costume first seen in Aquaman. Even though the art is just a concept of what Clarke might look like as Mera, we must admit we’re entirely speechless.
When you see what Clarke could look like as the iconic DC Comics heroine Mera, it’s not hard to see why so many fans want her to play the role.
