Duff Goldman is an American pastry chef and TV personality. He was born Jeffrey Adam Goldman in Detroit, Michigan, in December 1974. He finished high school in Massachusetts and got his start in kitchens at the age of 14.
His culinary journey took him to Charleston restaurant in Baltimore, where he initially made biscuits and cornbread. Later, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, California, and gained experience working under chefs at French Laundry and the Vail Cascade Hotel. He returned to D.C. to bake bread at Olives.
In the year 2000, Goldman founded Charm City Cakes, starting from his own house. He brought in architects, sculptors, and painters to help create unique cakes. Some of their cake designs included Elvis, a volcano, a German Shepherd, a CAT scan machine, a Jeep, and even Wrigley Field. He made cakes for celebrities like Tom Clancy, and his work was featured on shows like Lost and 30 Rock.
Duff and his brother Willie co-authored a book in 2009. Additionally, his company Charm City Cakes was showcased on the Food Network reality show “Ace of Cakes” from 2006 to 2011. He even earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2008 for baking the world’s largest cupcake, weighing 61.4 pounds and standing over a foot tall.
