David Seidler Career
At the age of 40, Seidler made his way to Hollywood, where his initial assignment involved crafting the screenplay for “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” under the direction of Francis Ford Coppola. Collaborating with Jacqueline Feather, Seidler formed the writing team Feather & Seidler for a period.
His fascination with the story of King George VI, coupled with his own experiences as a stutterer, prompted Seidler to embark on research in the 1970s. After establishing contact with Valentine Logue, the son of Lionel Logue, Seidler expressed his interest in delving into the historical narrative.
However, Logue requested written permission from the Queen Mother before divulging further details about his father’s treatment of the King. Upon receiving a response from the Queen Mother’s private secretary, advising him to refrain from pursuing the project during her lifetime, Seidler reluctantly shelved the endeavor in 1982.
