Warner Bros is supposedly looking at Chris Hemsworth for the lead role in Mad Max: Furiosa, the prequel film to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. This rumour comes to us from The Illuminerdi, who are citing a leaked casting call for a character named “Dementus”.
Chris Hemsworth May Be Up For Male Lead Role In Mad Max: Furiosa
The description for this character reads as follows: “Lead Male (30 – 40). He is breathtakingly handsome. An angel’s face, scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples.”
Chris Hemsworth certainly checks all those boxes. He’d also be an interesting addition to George Miller’s Mad Max universe. However, it’s worth reiterating that this is pure speculation at this point. Neither Hemsworth himself, nor Warner Bros, nor George Miller has said anything about this.

Mad Max: Furiosa Is A Prequel To Mad Max: Fury Road
Whoever ends up in this movie, Mad Max: Furiosa is sure to be an interesting movie. Those who have seen Fury Road will know that Furiosa was the name of Charlize Theron’s character. Even in Fury Road itself, she seemed to be the driving force (no pun intended) of the plot. Tom Hardy’s Max Rockatansky was just along for the ride.
So, this prequel film, Mad Max: Furiosa, will follow her life’s story before the events of Fury Road. I love Fury Road, I loved the character of Furiosa in it, so this is all exciting. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we will see Charlize Theron back in the role.

Charlize Theron Won’t Be Back As Furiosa
In an interview with The New York Times, Miller mentioned that he was hoping to use CGI to de-age Theron. This is the same technique that Martin Scorcese used in The Irishman. However, Miller doesn’t think this technology is quite proficient enough just yet.
“I think there’s still an uncanny valley. Everyone is on the verge of solving it, particular Japanese video-game designers, but there’s still a pretty wide valley, I believe,” he said.
