Candace Parker is an American basketball player. Candace has formerly played for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA. She previously played for UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia from 2010 to 2015.
Parker is widely regarded as one of the best players in WNBA history, and she was selected first overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2008 WNBA draft. Parker spent 13 seasons with the Sparks before moving on to the Chicago Sky for two seasons, earning a title with both clubs.

Since 2019, Candace Parker has been married to Russian basketball player Anna Petrakova. Parker was previously married to retired NBA star Shelden Williams from 2008 to 2016.
Parker and Williams have a daughter named Lailaa Nicole Williams, who was born in 2009. She and Petrakova also have a son named Airr Larry Petrakov Parker, who was born two years after their marriage.
From 2002 to 2006, Williams was a collegiate standout for Duke University. A year later, the Blue Devils retired his No. 23 jersey. The Atlanta Hawks drafted him fifth overall, but his NBA career never took off. In six seasons, he played for seven different teams. Shelden Williams and Candace Parker, meanwhile, were collegiate standouts for Duke and Tennessee, respectively. On November 13, 2008, the pair married, and their daughter Lailaa Nicole Williams was born a year later, during Parker’s WNBA rookie season.

Candace Parker Career
Parker was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA Draft in 2008, and in her first game, she set a rookie record with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists against the Phoenix Mercury. In 2008, she was named Hanns-G ‘Go Beyond’ rookie of the month for the months of May and July. Parker was also named Rookie of the Year and MVP of the 2008 season by Hann’s-G.
She competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics for the United States National Women’s Basketball Team, winning a gold medal. Parker had a knee injury in 2011 and was forced to sit out the rest of the season. The United States Basketball Women’s National Team Player Selection Committee chose her and 20 other women to represent the United States at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Candace Parker was born in 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Naperville, Illinois. Anthony (an NBA player) and Marcus (a doctor) are her two brothers. In Naperville, she attended Naperville Central High School. She captained her high school football team to Class AA state titles in 2003 and 2004. During her high school football career, she received multiple trophies, including USA Player of the Year, Naismith, and Gatorade trophies, and was a unanimous choice for Illinois Player of the Year.
She eventually went on to play for the Tennessee Lady Vols at the University of Tennessee. She was voted Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, SEC Player of the Year in 2007, and Most Outstanding Player in 2007. She married Shelden Williams (a former Brooklyn Nets basketball player) in 2008. Lailaa Nicole Williams, their daughter, was born in 2009.
