Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn’t quite done entertaining us yet. NBC, the network where the show currently resides, confirmed that the sitcom is, in fact, going to be a fall release schedule. We got confirmation that Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 would be coming all the way back in November 2019.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Was Almost The Show’s Final Appearance
This was months before the premiere of Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 7. It was quite a surprising development, too. For those of you who don’t know, Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 may have ended up being the show’s last appearance.
It used to be on the Fox network, and they had no plans to the show past that. Things weren’t looking great for the show’s renewal as many other networks passed on renewing it, too. However, NBC eventually came through and announced that they would be continuing the show for season 7.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Cast Will Be Back For Season 8
It’s also great that the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast all moved over when the show changed networks, too. Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Andre Braugher, Dirk Blocker, Joel Mckinnon Miller, they all reprised their roles from previous seasons of the show.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 7 only came back with 13 episodes. This was a significant reduction from the number of episodes the show usually has per season. For example, Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 had 18 episodes.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 May Come Out Sooner Than Expected
We don’t yet know how many episodes we’ll get for Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8, or when it will premiere. Traditionally, this show’s new seasons have premiered around September. However, Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 premiered in January 2019, while season 7 premiered in February 2020.
That said if it’s on NBC’s fall schedule, it may be returning to its usual release schedule. It should also be interesting to see how Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 tackles recent events. While Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a comedy, it is a comedy that follows NYPD police officers.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 May Deal With Current Issues
There’s a lot of focus on the issue of police brutality nowadays. Brooklyn Nine-Nine has never shied away from tackling heavy issues such as racial profiling in the past. Terry Crews has confirmed that they will be covering recent events on Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8.
“We actually all got on a Zoom call just the other day, because of what’s happening in this country and we were witnessing so many abuses of power. We had some sombre talks and some really, really eye-opening conversation about how to handle this new season,” he said, as per Digital Spy.
